Now

The Old Parsonage is a Grade II listed building with five acres of surrounding grounds, built during the 1800s by the Champernowne family, the previous owners of Dartington Hall, for the vicar of St. Barnabas Church.

In this rural and tranquil setting, the chorus of birdsong welcomes you to the heart of the countryside.

The West Wing is part of the Old Parsonage, yet has its own driveway and front door, with plenty of parking and a private ½ acre garden. It is newly decorated, with care taken to retain the original features such as wooden shutters and flagstone flooring.

It is easily accessible, being 2½ miles from the A38 and 3 miles from Totnes (known as the 'alternative' capital of England) with local attractions including: South Brent area of Dartmoor, ideal for walking and pony trekking, 5-10 mins away; Dartington Hall with its beautiful gardens and buildings and all year round cultural events together with its own cinema in the Old Barn, 5 mins away; the well known Dartington Cider Press Centre providing creative products and Cranks Restaurant, 5 mins away; the beaches of South Hams (including Blackpool Sands, awarded the highest cleanliness standard), about 20-30 mins away. There are also very many beautiful gardens at a not too distant drive, including Heligan and Eden.

The West Wing accommodates six persons comfortably in its three bedrooms, with the option of an additional bed in the garden room. The master bedroom has a double bed and picturesque views over woodland and the West Wing's own garden. The second double bedroom has twin beds, and the third room contains either a double bed or two singles or one single bed as reqested.

The bathroom has a bath, a pedestal sink and separate modern cubicle power-shower. The double-sized hot water cylinder is housed in a separate cupboard below in the kitchen. There is also a downstairs bathroom with a second power-shower.

The spacious kitchen contains a large pine dining table, measuring 49" x 50", and an oil-fired Aga, as well as a microwave oven, fridge-freezer and all other common appliances. There is also a medium-sized trestle table for outside dining.

The living room is attractively furnished with a large leather couch with plenty of feather cushions and two other separate large chairs. There is also a television, a wood burning stove and plenty of games to suit all ages.

Adjoined to the kitchen is a garden room with velux roof windows and French doors to the garden where there is a large decked area with four chairs and a small table for outdoor eating. There is plenty of outdoor lighting to enable the Bar-B-Q to be used late into the summer evenings and garden games including boule, badminton and swing ball.

Other facilities include a separate W.C. a washing machine, and a hanging drying rack above the Aga, ideal for drying wet suits and damp towels. A cot is available on request.

Bath towels and bed linen are included, together with duvets and pillows.
Oil used for the Aga and central heating is included, as well as electricity (up to 300 units per week) and one very large basket of logs.

Babysitting can be provided by either of two ladies who have grown-up children of their own. Home-made prepared food is available if requested ahead.

Changeover is Saturday, although different arrival and departure days may be available by arrangement. Smokers are asked to smoke outside and pets are allowed by arrangement (only on the ground floor please and to sleep in the kitchen). A breakage deposit of £100 is to be given on completion of booking form.
