The fish deli is unique.. a superb deli, but specialising in only fishy things. Fresh fish is sourced sustainably from local day boats. Customers are encouraged to buy the daily catch of what is available and in season. Gentle advice is given about buying and trying more sustainable varieties. Free recipes are given out and a fish buying policy is available to take home. Our “Fish for a fiver” is really popular, filleted, boned and with a free recipe. Ideal for a quick meal and particularly good for families. Nick’s background as a chef and a chef/ lecturer at the C.F.E, means that we can also offer delicious hot and cold dishes prepared on the premises for you to take home. The dish of the week could be anything from bouillabaise to zarzuela – and our Brixham crab cakes and home-made taramasalata have become legendary! The shop is bulging with all sorts of fishy products of which at least 70% is local. A fantastic friendly service, nothing too much trouble, The fish is offered whole, filleted, butterfly filleted, pin boned, whatever you want. The deli has been short listed for Independent Seafood Retailer of the year, sponsored by Seafish The fish dishes have won great taste awards. There is a wide range of dry stores, delicious bread, classy cookware, fishy gifts and cook books too. It is an amazing shop bringing together all sorts of people from all walks of life to really enjoy/appreciate good food. The shop has been operating since 2004 and has a huge local following, it has been featured in a number of national newspapers and Country Living magazine.
We are a family run business that has been constructing Shepherd’s Huts, with a modern twist, since 1999. Hand built by local craftsmen, the traditional Shepherd’s hut will blend into gardens, fields and woodland alike, making it a wonderfully romantic alternative to conventional garden structures. The solid wooden frame, cast iron wheels, solid steel axles and formed corrugated roof are true to the original design, but to increase stability and ease of access, we have lowered the height and for greater strength of build we have used marine grade ply panels for the outer skin. There are four designs currently available which can be put to a range of uses – Garden Office, Painter’s Studio, Summer House, Children’s Playroom, Fishing Hut or Hideaway, just to mention a few – we are always happy to discuss customer’s personal requirements. The Field Kitchen is Riverford Farm’s award-winning restaurant on the farm, where you can come and enjoy a generous feast of our freshly-picked organic produce. Eating in the Field Kitchen is something to remember. You will share your table with fellow diners for a communal meal of the freshest seasonal produce picked from our fields. We have a set menu of five vegetable dishes and one meat dish (a vegetarian alternative to the meat dish can be arranged). Help yourself to big bowlfuls of mouthwatering vegetable side dishes that will renew your love of veg (we have converted many a beetroot-hater over the years). Save some room for an irresistible pudding. Meals are informal, relaxed and communal.
The Seahorse specialises in seafood sourced from the local fishermen and the nearby port of Brixham. Their local species of fish and shellfish are some of the finest in the world and you can enjoy the best of these at The Seahorse. Depending on the season and the weather you can expect to find, prawns, lobster, crab, bass, scallops, turbot, soles, mullet and lots more. The restaurant is situated on the banks of the river Dart overlooking the water, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and families are most welcome.
